Enjoy a guided and exclusive farm tour to see the rare and highly inquisitive alpaca. One of the most beautiful and elegant animals in the world, not to mention very friendly. Most visitors simply want to cuddle these wonderful animals and take as many selfies as they can. This is encouraged at every opportunity. The tour commences with a brief safety talk, followed by some wonderful stories about our adventures with alpacas. Visitors will be able to feed the animals, touch and handle the animals and marvel at the soft and lustrous fibre. Crias (babies) in season can be held for photographs. Overview

Silverstream Alpaca Stud Ltd was established in the year 2000 by Kit & Sheryl Johnson.

Located just 20 minutes north of Christchurch near Kaiapoi, Silverstream operates a herd of 120 alpacas and the daily operations include farm-stay accommodation, farm tours, retail alpaca shop and live animal exports to Europe and Asia.

Kit is a life member of the Alpaca Association NZ Inc for his services to the industry.

Silverstream animals have won over 80 supreme champion titles at major Agriculture and Pastoral shows throughout New Zealand including three national titles at the National Alpaca Show.

Perhaps their best achievement was winning Supreme Champion Animal of Show at the 2007 NZ Royal Show beating all other livestock.

Kit and Sheryl have been in the hospitality industry for over 50 years and have travelled extensively.

They try to give back what they have learned and enjoyed whilst traveling.
